San Marcos Greenbelt Alliance
Volunteer Opportunities

The mission of SMGA is to create and conserve an interconnected system of parks and natural areas for our community and future generations. What does that mean?

It means working with developers, the city, and the county to find compromises. It means helping the public understand the potential damage to the San Marcos River of building on sensitive land. It means qualifying for grants to create accessible trails, signage, and educational opportunities. And it means on-going programs that help preserve our psychological and physical health by getting us out into the natural world.

We can't do it alone. We need support from people who understand the importance of natural areas and are willing to volunteer time and donate money. SMGA is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), all volunteer organization that survives on the membership dues, donations, grants, perspiration, brains and brawn of people who understand the value of the natural world. So, find a volunteer opportunity or let us know of a project that you're interested in, and let's get to work!
